Amazon’s The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel just won the Golden Globe for Best Television Series, Musical or Comedy. The period comedy was up against Black-ish, Master of None, SMILF, and Will and Grace.
This is the second Golden Globe The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has picked up tonight, with the series taking home awards for both of its nominations. Rachel Brosnahan, who plays the show’s title character, also won earlier in the evening for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series. The series is about a housewife living in late 1950s New York City who decides to pursue stand-up comedy after her marriage falls apart.
Series creator Amy Sherman-Palladino accepted the award, briefly thanking the cast and crew. She also thanked Amazon: “Their support was completely unwavering at all times,” she said. “Every check cleared. We’re never leaving.”
The only other Golden Globe nomination for Amazon tonight was for Kevin Bacon’s performance in I Love Dick, but he lost to Aziz Ansari in Netflix’s Master of None.
